All Five Starters Hit Double-Figures in 79-60 Women's Basketball Win Versus Saint Anselm

All Five Starters Hit Double-Figures in 79-60 Women's Basketball Win Versus Saint Anselm

RINDGE, N.H. (2/11/23) - Junior Ines Gimenez Monserrat (Mallorca, Spain) had a day on Saturday afternoon, as she dropped 26 points from the field to steer the Ravens back into the win column with a huge victory over in-state rival Saint Anselm, 79-60 at The Fieldhouse.

With the win, the Ravens move to 8-16 (4-13 NE10) while the loss drops Saint Anselm to 11-12 (7-10 NE10).

Both the Hawks and Ravens came out strong to start the first quarter, as Gimenez Monserratt kickstarted her day with a pair of threes to go 2-for-2 from behind the arc, scoring eight points in total.  As a group, Pierce would shoot 46.7% (7-of-15) from the floor through the opening 10-minutes, but would barely get outscored by an 18-16 margin.

The second quarter, like the first, was back and forth for both sides. The Ravens would take their turn outscoring the Hawks 21-14, pairing their stronger offense with defensively sound game. Leana Heitmann (Pompey, N.Y.) was a factor in the Ravens defensive success in the second quarter, as she put on a clinic  with two more blocks to bring her first half total to five. Heitmann would also match Gimenez Monserrat for the second quarter scoring lead, knocking down five points with four rebounds. Following the solid combination of defense and offense, the Ravens would carry a 37-32 lead into the second half.

In the third quarter, the Ravens looked for the kill and continued to roll on both ends of the court, outscoring the Hawks 21-12. Heitmann kept the momentum going with a floor leading seven points in the frame, scoring both from the paint (3-of-4) and from the perimeter (1-of-2). Junior Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) would also find success with four points, as the 21-12 run helped the Ravens pull away with a convincing 58-44 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Now trailing by 14, the Hawks attempted a full-court press to try and limit the damage pull back into the action. However, Gimenez Monserratt and the Ravens continued to break through the Saint Anselm defense and score the ball at will, with the Raven junior adding another nine points to round out her individual game totals. Junior Gabriela Sanchez-Parodi (Canary Islands, Spain) also began to hit her stride in the final stanze, cashing in on some quality backdoor cuts into the paint en route a five-point quarter quarter, giving her 11 in total. At the final buzzer, the Ravens had made it official with the 79-60 win.

All five Raven starters notched double-figures on the afternoon, with each following the 26-point day for Gimenez Monserrat, who finished 10-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-8 from three-range. Freshman Kenzie Sirowich (Seymour, Conn.) and Leana Heitmann each collected 12 points and seven boards in the effort, and Gabriela Sanchez-Parodi secured 11 points with six helpers. For the second consecutive game, Ana Badosa Soler recorded a double-double on the floor, scoring 14 points with ten total rebounds, as well as four assists.

The Ravens hit the road for a matchup next Wednesday, February 15th at Southern Connecticut State, with a start time of  5:30 p.m.
