Reddy led the CSFL with a 69-yard punt this season

RINDGE, N.H. (October 29, 2013) – Franklin Pierce University sprint football standout Derek Reddy (Natick, Mass.) on Tuesday was named the College Sprint Football League (CSFL) Special Teams Player of the Week for his impressive punting performance in Saturday’s season-ending 42-14 triumph over Post University.

It marked the second-consecutive week Reddy won the award, and the sixth overall weekly accolade won by a Raven this season.

Reddy helped Franklin Pierce control the field position battle all day against Post, as he punted five times for an average of 45.4 yards per kick. He even launched a boot 69 yards, which was the longest punt in the CSFL this season.

Reddy didn’t just get it done on special teams, but also defensively, as he intercepted a pair of passes, recovered a fumble, broke up a pair of throws, and made seven tackles (6 solo). His two picks gave him six for the season, which was the highest total in the league.

Reddy’s performance helped the Ravens close out the 2013 season on a four-game winning streak, as they concluded the campaign with a 5-2 record. Franklin Pierce can finish as high as second place in the league, but no worse than third, as the CSFL season will conclude this weekend with one final contest between Navy and Penn. The 5-2 record and certain high finish in the league is an amazing accomplishment as the program was competing in just its second season at the varsity level in 2013.
