Ravens Go 2-0 in Final Day of Space Coast Spring Games, Defeating Both UT Dallas and Nova Southeastern

VIERA, Fla. (3/19/25) - The Franklin Pierce softball team won both games on their last day at the Space Coast Spring Games, defeating the UT Dallas Comets 5-3 and the Nova Southeastern Sharks 6-2.

Game 1 vs UT Dallas
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens came out hot in the bottom of the first inning, jumping to an early lead. Senior outfielder Bella Williams (Phoenix, AZ) singled down the 3rd baseline to score first-year outfielder Zoey Galindo (Lakewood, CA), getting the Ravens on the board. Then sophomore pitcher Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia) doubled down the 3rd baseline, scoring Bella Williams to extend the lead. After that, senior outfielder Amy Jones (San Diego, CA) singled up the middle to center to score Georgia Clough, giving the Ravens a 3-0 lead.
- The Comets got on the board in the top of the second after Cole Johnson reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Avery Martin, cutting the Ravens' lead to two.
- The Ravens then responded in the bottom of the second, adding to their lead. Junior outfielder Andie Anderson (Phoenix, AZ) struck an RBI single to left field, scoring senior infielder Haley Bigwood (Athol, MA) to add to the Ravens' lead. Right after that, Bella Williams crushed an RBI double down the 3rd baseline to score Andie Anderson.
- The Ravens' defense was stout for the remainder of the game, but the Comets were mounting a comeback in the top of the seventh. Addison Caddell singled down the first baseline scoring Evelyn Santos, then Gracelyn Taylor singled to left field, scoring Mikayla Hoffman. However, the comeback proved to be too little, too late as the Ravens secured the 5-3 victory.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- The Comets out hit the Ravens 9-7 in the game.
- Both teams only gave up two errors, making it a tight defensive game.
- The star of the show for the Ravens was their pitcher, Georgia Clough, who pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, striking out seven batters and only giving up three runs. Sophomore pitcher Kennedy Morris (Stafford, CT) recorded the save.
- The Comets had a rougher time in the pitching circle. Madelyn Denn only pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up five runs, awarding her the loss.
Game 2 vs Nova Southeastern
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Sharks struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Lauren Margolis struck an RBI single to score Maliyah Lawson, putting the Sharks ahead 1-0.
- The Ravens knotted up the score in the top of the fourth off an RBI single by senior infielder Lita Vorseth (Mesa, AZ) that scored senior first baseman Anna Erikson (Temecula, CA). Then, Bella Williams hit a sacrifice fly to score first-year third baseman Kaylee Fraund (Murietta, CA), giving the Ravens a 2-1 lead. After that, first-year outfielder Delaney Duford (Concord, NH) crushed a 2-RBI double, scoring both Zoey Galindo and Lita Vorseth, putting the Ravens ahead 4-1.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, Brenna Lokeinsky hit an RBI double to score Maliyah Lawson to cut the Ravens' lead to two runs.
- The Ravens then sealed the win in the top of the seventh after Zoey Galindo crushed a 2-RBI single to score Andie Anderson and Georgia Clough, giving the Ravens a 6-2 win.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- The Ravens out-hit the Sharks 11-9 in the game.
- Only one error was committed in the game, and it was by the Sharks. The Ravens had a great defensive effort from the start.
- Kennedy Morris grabbed the win after pitching a complete game, striking out three batters, while giving up nine hits and only two runs.
- Lydia Drake also made a great effort in the circle, pitching seven innings and striking out nine batters.
UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens end their time in Florida and will return to Rindge for their first home series of the season against the Adelphi Panthers. First pitch for game one will be at noon on March 29th at Melissa Bisaccia Field.
