HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game 1:

  • After a scoreless first inning from both teams, the Ravens got on the board in the second off a sacrifice fly to centerfield from Charlit Hartenstein (Massapequa, NY) which sent pinch runner Molly Magnette (Ayer, MA) across home plate. The Falcons responded in the bottom of the second with back-to-back hits to gave them the 3-1 lead. After a silent third inning from both teams, Bentley extended their lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
  • In the top of the sixth the Ravens cut it to a one run game after Ashley Cangiano (N. Attleboro, MA) hit a two RBI single scoring Haley Bigwood (Athol, MA) and Bella Williams (Phoenix, AZ).
  • In the top of the seventh with their last chance to keep the game alive, Cangiano reached first on a fielder's choice. As the Bentley shortstop stepped on third base to record the out, pinch runner Savannah Arreguin (Pacoima, CA) hit the jets and crossed home plate for the game tying run. The Falcons kept the Ravens at just one run to close out the seventh inning which sent the game into extras.
  • After the Ravens were held from scoring, freshman pitcher Kennedy Morris (Stafford, CT) helped the Ravens put together three outs on three batters for her fourth consecutive inning without a run scored.
  • In the top of the ninth inning, Lita Vorseth (Mesa, AZ) stepped up to the plate with the bases juiced. After connecting with a pitch, she launched a 2-RBI single to center field, scoring Bigwood and Williams. During the next at bat, Georgia Clough (Barriere, BC) reached on a fielders choice, sending Cangiano home to make it a 7-4 Ravens' lead.
  • Morris returned to the circle in the bottom of the 9th inning and closed out the extra innings victory.

Game  2:

  • With two outs in the top of the second, Sam Sylvester (Morris, CT) went to the dish with Suzannah Campos (Leemore, CA) on first and Amy Jones (San Diego, CA) on second. Sylvester then launched a moon ball over the left field fence to record the 3 RBI homerun.
  • Later in the sixth inning, Bella Williams grabbed her first RBI of day off an RBI double sending Arreguin home, making it a 4-0 game.
  • In the top of the seventh inning, Cangiano made it home on a wild pitched followed by a fielding error that let Magnette score to make it 6-0.
  • Sabrina Gonzalez (Chandler, AZ) faced 26 batters in the seven innings she pitched. In total she tallied seven strikeouts and only allowed five hits in the shutout performance.
