No. 6 Softball To Make Second Consecutive Appearance in NCAA East Regional Tournament

RINDGE, N.H. (5/8/23) – After making their first NCAA East Regional appearance last season, the Franklin Pierce University softball program will be returning to tournament stage for the second consecutive year, earning the No. 6 position in the overall East rankings. 

The host site will be Wilmington, Delaware and #2 seeded Wilmington University, with games taking place at Asbury Field. Also joining the East 2 Regional pod is third-ranked Georgian Court University, and familiar foe Pace University as the No. 7 seed.

Pierce was included in the NCAA's field of 64 selected teams from eight separate regions, with each region's bracket featuring an equal number of individual programs. Each region is then divided into two sub-regional sections, with four teams represented in each. From the official NCAA Tournament announcement, "Winners of each sub-regional will advance to the super regionals, slated for May 18-19. The finals will be held May n25-31 at the Frost Stadium at Warner Park and will be hosted by Lee University, the University of North Georgia and the Chattanooga Sports Commission."

NCAA East Region 2 (Wilmington, Delaware)

No. 2 Wilmington University (39-13, 21-3 CACC)
No. 3 Georgian Court University (37-19, 18-6 CACC)
No. 6 Franklin Pierce University (32-18, 16-8 NE10)
No. 7 Pace University (26-23, 15-9 NE10)

The opposite side of the East regional bracket will take place at top-seeded Adelphi University, and will feature No. 4 Bentley University, No. 5 Caldwell University, and No. 8 St. Thomas Aquinas.The No. 6 Ravens will open the tournament slate on Thursday, May 11th against No. 3 Georgian Court at 11:00 AM.
