Cangiano Chosen as Northeast-10 Softball Player of the Week

MANSFIELD, Mass. (3/6/23) – For the first time this season, the Franklin Pierce softball program was featured in the Northeast-10 Conference's unveiling of weekly award winners, with junior outfielder/catcher Ashley Cangiano (North Attleboro, Mass.) claiming Player of the Week honors.

The Ravens went 2-0 this past week, mercy-ruling Alliance University (Nyack) by 12-0 and 12-1 scores. Cangiano was a driving force across the two-game span, totaling five hits in six appearances at the plate, hitting three triples along the way. Cangiano also plated four RBI and finished the series with a .833 batting average, a .875 on-base percentage and a 1.833 slug percentage. Cangiano also found herself in frequent scoring position, stealing extra bases three total times.  

So far this season, Cangiano currently leads the Northeast-10 Conference in overall batting average (.630), and is currently ranked 2nd in RBI (12), 4th in stolen bases (5) and is tied for 2nd in home runs hit (3). Franklin Pierce softball, this season, holds a 5-4 overall record.

Softball prepares for a trip down south to Winter Haven, Florida where they will face a variety of teams across a four day span, beginning with Minnesota State-Mankato this Thursday, March 9th at 9:00 a.m.
