LOUISVILLE, KY (8/5/22) – Per the official announcement by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Monday afternoon, eleven total members of the 2022 Franklin Pierce University softball team were each recognized as recipients of the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.

The accolades were awarded to individual athletes who were able to achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale throughout the 2021-22 academic year.

Leading the way for Franklin Pierce were five junior players, consisting of outfielders Melissa Konopinski (Butler, N.J.), Ari Rodriguez (Clinton, Mass.) and Alexis Briggs (Lockport, N.Y.), catcher Hailey Melchert (Lake Orion, Mich.), and pitcher Madison Labrie (New Ipswich, N.H.). The compiled list also included sophomores Ashley Cangiano (North Attleboro, Mass.), Molly Magnette (Ayer, Mass.) and Sam Sylvester (Morris, Conn.).

Rounding out the honorees were a trio of individual class representatives. Joining the ranks were included graduate infielder Gina Hinckley (Lancaster, Mass.), senior Lexi Garcia (Sylmar, Calif.) and freshman Anna Erikson (Temecula, Calif.).

Out of the total eleven, Cangiano and Erikson are the lone first-time recipients of the award, with all others receiving it for the second time in their career.
