Rowing Thaws Out 2023 Spring Season at Amherst Invitational

HADLEY, Mass. (3/25/23) – With the ice off the water, the conditions were still rather seasonable for the Franklin Pierce rowing team, who opened their spring campaign at the Amherst Invitational on the Connecticut River in Hadley, Massachusetts, hosted by Amherst College.

The event featured four separate head-to-head matchups, with each team beginning with a floating start at each.

The Franklin Pierce varsity eight posted a finishing time of 9:04.4, crossing the finish line behind direct opponent Smith College (8:25.9) by just under 38-seconds down the 1750-meter stretch. In addition to frigid temperatures, all participating teams also had to endure a strong head current.
