Women's Rowing Enters Three Boats at Mass Maritime Race

Varsity-four boat places fourth out of seven teams

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (April 12, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s rowing team entered a trio of boats at the Mass Maritime Race on Great Herring Pond on Saturday in Plymouth, Mass. The three boats to compete in the event included the women’s varsity-four boat (4th of 7), the second varsity-four boat (3rd of 3), and the varsity-eight boat (4th of 5).

The top varsity-four boat finished in a time of 7:58.27, and included Erika Hebert (Leominster, Mass.) as the coxswain, Nicole Rode (Thomaston, Conn.) at the stroke, Kirsten Salois (Pelham, N.H.) at the three, Hayley Brown (Newbury, Mass.) at the two, and Madelene Morrill (Greenville, Pa.) at the bow. Bryant won the race in a time of 7:32.60.

The second varsity-four finished in a time of 9:13.34, and included Bianca Baldelli (Stonington, Conn.) as the coxswain, Leah Kaczanowicz (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) at the stroke, Amelea Gray (Bozeman, Mont.) at the three, Bridgit Connors (Milford, Conn.) at the two, and Mary Quinn (Erie, Pa.) at the bow. Bryant won the race in a time of 8:18.90.

The varsity-eight boat finished in a time of 8:33.13, and included Hebert as the coxswain, Rode at the stroke, Salois at the seven, Connors at the six, Gray at the five, Kaczanowicz at the four, Morrill at the three, Brown at the two, and Quinn at the bow. Endicott won in a time of 7:41.14.

Franklin Pierce returns to action Saturday at the Greater Boston Invitational on the Merrimack River in Lowell, Mass.
