Rowing Teams Open 2012 Fall Season at Textile River Regatta
2012 fall season opener
LOWELL, Mass. (September 30, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's and women's rowing teams opened their 2012 fall season on Sunday as they competed in the Textile River Regatta in Lowell, Mass.
The Ravens entered three boats in the competition, including in the women's club double sculls race, the women's open four (plus coxswain) race and the men's open four (plus coxswain) race.
In the women's club double sculls event, the team of Hayley Brown (Newbury, Mass.) at the bow and Ashley Lavoie (Coventry, R.I.) at the stroke, finished sixth in a time of 33:52.117. It marked only the fifth time the duo was rowing in a sculls race.
In the women's open four race, the team of Madelene Morrill (Greenville, Pa.) at the bow, Rhiannon McIntyre (Worcester, Mass.) at the two, Natasha Pastor (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) at the three, Leah Kaczanowicz (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) at the stroke and Dayna Mercadante (Millville, Mass.) at the coxswain, finished 12th in a time of 26:13.024.
In the men's open four race, the team of Jackson Dean (Cohasset, Mass.) at the bow, Joseph Wilhemy (Shrewsbury, Mass.) at the two, Michael Petrowski (Tewksbury, Mass.) at the three, Harrison Harkey (New Canaan, Conn.) at the stroke and Erika Hebert (Leominster, Mass.) at the coxswain, finished 19th in a time of 23:43.958.
