Women's Rowing Enters Two Boats at UMass-Lowell Race
Varsity Four boat places third
LOWELL, Mass. (April 13, 2013) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's rowing team entered the varsity eight and varsity four boats in the UMass-Lowell Race on Saturday on the Textile River in Lowell, Mass. The eight boat placed fourth, while the four boat turned in a third-place finish.
Official times have yet to be
posted on either of the official race sites, but placings are
official.
The eight boat consisted of Jess Whittemore at the
stroke, Natasha Pastor (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) at the
seven, Hayley Brown (Newbury, Mass.) at the six,
Leah Kaczanowicz (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) at the five,
Jenna Chiavelli (Methuen, Mass.) at the four,
Ashley Lavoie (Coventry, R.I.) at the three,
Mary Quinn (Erie, Pa.) at the two,
Madelene Morrill (Greenville, Pa.) at the bow and
Dayna Mercadante (Millville, Mass.) as the
coxswain. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy won the race.
The four boat was comprised of Whittemore at the stroke, Kaczanowicz at the three, Brown at the two, Pastor at the bow and Erika Hebert (Leominster, Mass.) as the coxswain. Merrimack won the varsity four race.
The women's rowing team will return to action Sunday when the Ravens compete against several New England schools in the Lake Quinsigamond Race.
