Summa Wins Again, No. 27 Men’s Cross Country Takes Fifth at Mike Woods Invitational

GENESEO, N.Y. (October 1, 2022) -- Running through the National Warplane Memorial on Saturday, junior Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) of the No. 27 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team laid down some impressive firepower of his own at the Mike Woods Invitational, hosted by SUNY Geneseo. Atop a massive, 365-runner field in an 8k race, Summa took first place, with a time of 24:40, to post a five-second victory. Summa's second-straight victory led the Ravens to a fifth-place finish, out of 24 teams.

Following Summa, next for the Ravens was graduate student Sebastien Vicary (Ulceby, United Kingdom), whose 25:53 time allowed him to take 29th. Junior Ryan Outerbridge (Paget, Bermuda) followed, taking 36th for a 26:00 time.

In 43rd was graduate student Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.), who crossed the line in 26:07, to make it four Ravens in the top 50. Junior Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) ran a time of 26:28 to claim 63rd and round out the team's scoring five. Just outside the top 100 was junior Thomas Darrah (Thetford, Vt.) in 102nd, with a 36:56 time, while freshman Declan Morgan (West Springfield, Mass.) was 120th, with a 27:18 time.

Also competing for the Ravens were junior Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) in 179th (28:14); sophomore Ntakirutimana Janvier (Burlington, Vt.) in 243rd (29:32); freshman Riley Tremblay (Mansfield, Mass.) in 294th (31:02); Ben Clinch in 296th (31:06); and sophomore Aidan Healy (Bedford, N.H.) in 332nd (33:01).

The Ravens are off next week, but hold their annual home meet the following week. They will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15, for the Bruce Kirsh Cup, held at Hopkinton State Fairground in Hopkinton, N.H.
