NEW ORELANS (September 28, 2022) -- For the first time in eight years, the Franklin Pierce University men's cross country team has a national ranking. The Ravens check in at No. 27 in the country in this week's national coaches' poll, conducted by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In addition, Franklin Pierce is the top-ranked team in the East Region in this week's USTFCCCA regional rankings, a height the squad has not reached since October of 2013.

The Ravens return to the national rankings for the first time since October of 2014, with 33 points, good for No. 27 in the top-30 poll. Franklin Pierce is one of just two East Region schools to receive any votes in the national poll, as fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Southern Connecticut State received three points and appears in the "Also Receiving Votes" section of the poll. SCSU and American International both fell out of the top 30 this week.

At the top of the poll, Adams State and Colorado School of Mines split eight first-place votes between them, and both wound up with 236 points to share the No. 1 national ranking. Grand Valley State (224 points), Chico State (206 points) and Augustana (S.D.) (205 points) rounded out the top five.

Meanwhile, in the East Region coaches' rankings, the Ravens jumped up two places, to usurp the top spot in the region from AIC, which tumbled three spots to fourth. SCSU is second, while Roberts Wesleyan sits third. Behind AIC, Southern New Hampshire rounds out the top five.

The USTFCCCA releases regional rankings every Tuesday and national rankings every Wednesday during the season.

The Ravens had this past weekend off, but are back in action at SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, Oct. 1, for the Mike Woods Invitational in Geneseo, N.Y.
