Cross Country Programs Combine to Boast Four USTFCCCA All-Academic Selections

RINDGE, N.H. (February 25, 2015) – Junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.), junior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) and freshman Christopher Lord (North Andover, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team, as well as senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) of the women’s team, have all earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors, as announced on Wednesday by the USTFCCCA. In addition, both the men’s and women’s cross country programs have been honored at the team level by the USTFCCCA All-Academic program.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 3, 2016) – Four Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been named to the fall 2015 Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Team in their respective sports, as announced Wednesday by the Conference office. Field hockey saw senior forward Chelsey Burnell (Porter, Maine) and sophomore forward Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) honored, while junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) of the men’s cross country team and graduate student midfielder David Magee (Lurgan, Ireland) of the men’s soccer team earned the accolade as well. The selected Ravens were among 79 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the Northeast-10.

JOPLIN, Mo. (November 21, 2015) – Senior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) capped his collegiate cross country career on Saturday for the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team, with an appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championship, hosted by Missouri Southern State. Of 246 runners, Ham placed 53rd, solidly within the top quarter of the field at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

HOPKINTON, N.H. (November 8, 2015) – For the second straight season, the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team was the first team on the outside looking in as the results came in at the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by Franklin Pierce at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. With three teams advancing to the NCAA National Championship race, the Ravens finished fourth on Sunday, just four points behind third-place Stonehill. Instead, Franklin Pierce settled for an individual qualifying for the national race, as senior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) placed sixth to lead the team.

COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 25, 2015) – Senior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) and junior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) both finished in the top 10 on Sunday to lead the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team to a third-place finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by Saint Michael’s. In all, the Ravens placed four in the top 15, all of which earned All-Conference honors.

(October 21, 2015) – Freshman back Charlie Madden (Newton Abbot, United Kingdom) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced on Monday by the Conference office. In addition, sophomore Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) of the women’s golf team has been named Northeast-10 Player of the Week and three other Ravens have been named to their sport’s respective Weekly Honor Roll.

HOPKINTON, N.H. (October 16, 2015) – After ceding the crown to American International a year ago, the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team reclaimed the title at their own meet on Friday, winning the third annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. Senior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) led the Ravens by placing second at the meet, which also served as a preview for the NCAA Championship East Regional.

BOSTON (October 10, 2015) – After taking the last two weeks off so head coach Zach Emerson could work with his team away from the course, the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team was back at it on Saturday at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship, held at Franklin Park. The Ravens utilized a trio of top-50 finishes in the 252-runner field to place 17th out of 38 teams.

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (September 19, 2015) – Junior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) and senior Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) finished one behind the other in 10th and 11th place on Saturday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational. Junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) in 18th made it three in the top-20, as the Ravens finished fourth out of 43 teams.

PHILADELPHIA (September 12, 2015) – After watching one of their teammates from the women’s squad claim the individual crown at the Philadelphia Metropolitan Championships, the Franklin Pierce University men’s cross country team took all the drama out of the 8k men’s event at Belmont Plateau on Saturday. The Ravens claimed four of the top six spots in the race on the way to a blowout victory at the event, which was hosted by Philadelphia Univ.

Junior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) led the way in fifth place, as a trio of Ravens placed in the top 10.

(September 1, 2015) – For the first time in program history, the Franklin Pierce University women’s cross country team has cracked the top 10 of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association East Region Rankings, as announced Tuesday by the USTFCCCA. In the preseason edition of the regional rankings, the women are ranked 10th, while the men placed fourth in the East Region.
