Outdoor Track & Field Competes at the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (4/29/23) – In their final meet of the 2023 regular season, the Franklin Pierce outdoor track and field programs competed at the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devil Invitational on Friday, April 28th. As a scoring meet, the Pierce women's squad cracked the top five, placing third-overall out of 11 teams (83 points), while the Pierce men battled their way to a eighth-overall finish out of 14 opposing programs (47 points).

Central Connecticut, as the hosts of the meet, claimed the team wins on both sides.

It was a solid day all-in-all for the Raven women's team, who finished the day with 10 top-five finishers individually. Out of that list, two individual Ravens claimed wins in their respective events, as junior Meghan Sheline (Southington, Conn.) took the win in the Women's 1500-Meter Run (5:08.70), and freshman Elizabeth Jones (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) in the Women's Pole Vault (3.05m). In total, nine members of the Women's squad set new personal records.

On the Pierce Men's side, two individuals placed in the top-five of their respective event fields, as well as the Men's 4x100-Meter Relay team, who claimed 2nd with a race time of 4:22.17. Senior Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) continued to dominate in the Men's Hammer Throw, finishing 2nd (51.96m), while junior Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) completed the list of runner-up finishers in the Men's 1500-Meter (3.59.76). Nine individuals also claimed personal records form the men's squad, bringing the combined list to 18 Ravens through one day.

PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS – MEN'S

  • Senior Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.) placed 4th in the 100-Meter Dash (11.29), 4th in the 200-Meter Dash (22.68)
  • Junior Angel Gonzalez (North Andover, Mass.) took 8th in the 100-Meter Dash (11.35)
  • Freshman Lalo Lopez (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed 5th in the 200-Meter Dash (22.77)
  • Junior Nathan Rinaldi (Bristol, Conn.) finished 10th in the 200-Meter Dash (23.02)
  • Junior Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) was runner-up in the 1500-Meter (3:59.76)
  • Junior Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) claimed 4th in the 1500-Meter (4:02.71)
  • Freshman Declan Morgan (West Springfield, Mass.) nailed down 10th in the 1500-Meter Run (4:22.17)
  • Junior Tad Darrah (Thetford, Vt.) placed 8th in the 3000-Meter Run (9:01.98)
  • The Men's 4x100-Meter Relay (Gonzalez, Jones, Lopez, Rinaldi) finished runner-up (42.57)
  • Senior Sal Lando (Sterling, Mass.) claimed 5th in the Shot Put (14.13m), 9th in the Discus Throw (40.60m)
  • Senior Connor Everidge took runner-up in the Hammer Throw (51.96m)

PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS – WOMEN'S

  • Senior Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.) was runner-up in the 800-Meter (2:22.41)
  • Senior Alena Masterson (Pelham, N.H.) placed 7th in the 800-Meter (2:32.42)
  • Junior Emma Cutter (Newburyport, Mass.) finished 10th in the 800-Meter (2:38.49)
  • Junior Meghan Sheline won the 1500-Meter Run (5:08.70)
  • Junior Saylee Missell (Stafford Springs, Conn.) claimed runner-up in the 1500-Meter Run (5:10.10)
  • Freshman Elizabeth Jones won the Pole Vault (3.05m)
  • Junior Teresa Deasy (Smithtown, N.Y.) claimed 2nd in the Pole Vault (2.75m), 2nd in the Javelin Throw (34.07m)
  • Junior Tyra Felton (Sterling, Mass.) placed 3rd in the Hammer Throw (42.90m), placed 4th in the Shot Put (11.28m)
  • Freshman Emily Nhun (Biddeford, Maine) claimed 9th in the Shot Put (10.24m), 8th in the Discus (33.64m)
  • Graduate Katerina Dajia (Aurora, Ontario) placed 4th in the Discus Throw (37.16m), 4th in the Javelin Throw (28.88m)

Outdoor Track and Field will hit the reset button for the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship Meet on May 5th and 6th, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.
