Program Records Fall, National Standards Met for Track & Field at Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Penn. (4/16/23) – Select members of the Franklin Pierce outdoor track and field program spent the weekend competing at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, one of the largest outdoor track events on the East Coast, which featured over one hundred opposing colleges and universities and over 4,000 individual competitors from all across the country.

Despite the sizeable amount of competition surrounding them, a number of Ravens dished out record-breaking performances at the event, along with two NCAA National Championship qualifying results.

From the Pierce men's side, junior Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) finished 17th in the 10,000-Meter Run with a race time of 30:19.45, garnering one of the two NCAA's qualifying standards. The 10K performance was also a new program record for the event. Also highlighting the event for the men was senior Connor Everidge, who for the second consecutive week broke the program record for the hammer throw, previously set by him, by hitting a mark of 50.67 meters.

For the women, senior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) hauled in the second NCAA Qualifying standard of the day, finishing fifth-overall in the Women's 400-Meter, the highest placement between both sides, after clocking in at a 55.95 race time. Young-Bey additionally took 12th in the 200-Meter Dash, with a time of 24.95 to wrap up her performance.

PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS – MEN'S

  • Junior Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.) claimed 33rd in the 100-Meter Dash (10.97)
  • Senior Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.) finished 31st in the 200-Meter Dash (22.19)
  • Junior Nathan Rinaldi (Bristol, Conn.) placed 37th in the 400-Meter (50.01)
  • Freshman Lalo Lopez (Naugatuck, Conn.) secured 39th in the 400-Meter (50.11)
  • Junior Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) rounded-out 50th in the 800-Meter Run (1:54.46)
  • Senior Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) finished 20th-overall in the Mile Run (8:51.76)
  • Senior Sebastien Vicary (Ulceby, United Kingdom) completed the Unseeded 10,000-Meter Run 36th-overall (32:53.67)
  • Junior Wondu Summa claimed 17th in the 10,000-Meter Invite (30:19.45)
  • The Pierce Men's 4x100-Meter Relay Team (Gonzalez, Lopez, Jones, Harris) paced out a 12th place finish out of 26 teams.
  • Senior Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) placed 21st in the Shot Put (14.95m), 18th in the Hammer Throw (50.67m – NPR)
  • Junior Sal Lando (Sterling, Mass.) placed 26th in the Shot Put (14.49m), 22nd in the Discus Throw (43.02m)
  • Junior Brogan Bonsaint (Somersworth, N.H.) took 15th in the Javelin Throw (54.73m)

PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS – WOMEN'S

  • Senior Nyjah Young-Bey had a day and claimed a 12th place finish in the 200-Meter Dash (24.95), 5th in the 400-Meter Dash (55.95)
  • Junior Meghan Sheline (Southington, Conn.) placed 26th in the 3000-Meter Run (10:48.61)
  • Sophomore Brianha Bouchard took 50th in the 100-Meter Hurdles (16.48), 45th in the 400-Meter Hurdles (1:10.38)

Up next, the whole collective program will join back up for the two-day Sean Collier Invite at MIT this coming weekend, with events beginning on Friday, April 21st.
