Men's Indoor Holds 2nd, Women's 5th After Opening Day of the NE10 Championships

BOSTON, Mass. (2/16/23) – Thursday marked the opening day of the Northeast-10 Indoor Championships, held at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Massachusetts, and featured an extensive list of solid performances from both factions of the Franklin Pierce indoor track and field team.

The day featured two individual championship winning performances for respective events, as well as 11 individual medalists. After one day, the Ravens' Men's team held onto a 2nd-place position with 31 points earned, trailing current leader Southern Connecticut (74 points), while the Women's squad placed 5th with 24 points.

From the list of 11 medalists, eight combined individuals between both Distance Medley Relay teams made their way up to the podium. The event was highlighted by a NE10 Championship winning performance by the men's posse of senior Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.), and juniors Nathan Rinaldi (Bristol, Conn.), Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Ryan Outerbridge (Paget, Bermuda), who triumphed with a finishing time of 10:09.77. From the women's side, the Raven grouping of seniors Saylee Missell (Stafford Springs, Conn.), Alena Masterson (Pelham, N.H.), and Alana Thompson (Westhampton, N.J.), as well as junior Meghan Sheline (Southington, Conn.) battled their way up to 3rd-overall, finishing with a time of 12:48.74 to claim the bronze.

From an individual event standpoint, freshman standout Elizabeth Jones (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) claimed the Northeast-10 crown in the Women's Pole Vault, clearing a height of 3.05 meters. Men's graduate Sebastien Vicary (Ulceby, United Kingdom) finished as the runner-up in the Men's 5000-Meter Run, while senior Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) continued to demolish his prior program records, setting a new standard in the Men's Weight Throw (17.41).

PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS (DAY 1) - MEN

  • Junior Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.) placed 2nd in the Men's 200-Meter preliminaries (21.74), 9th in the Men's 60-Meter Dash preliminaries (7.08)
  • Senior Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.) finished 9th in the Men's 200-Meter preliminaries (22.32)
  • Junior Nathan Rinaldi placed 10th in the Men's 400-Meter preliminaries (50.59)
  • Junior Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) claimed 3rd in the Men's 800-Meter preliminaries (1:56.35)
  • Graduate Sebastien Vicary was runner-up in the Men's 5000-Meter (14:58.17)
  • Junior Tad Darrah (Thetford, Vt.) finished 9th in the Men's 5000-Meter (15:50.93)
  • Sophomore Logan Mihelich (Northwood, N.H.) finished 10th in the Men's 5000-Meter (16:05.16)
  • The Men's Distance Medley Relay (Fenoff, Rinaldi, McNeice, Outerbridge) placed 1st (NE10 Champion – 10:09.77)
  • Junior Connor Nordmann (Bethel, Conn.) earned 6th in the Men's Pole Vault (3.95m)
  • Freshman Chance Conklin (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed 8th in the Men's Pole Vault (3.35m)
  • Senior Connor Everidge took runner-up in the Men's Weight Throw (17.41m)
  • Junior Salvatore Lando (Sterling, Mass.) placed 9th in the Men's Weight Throw (14.43m)


PIERCE PLUS PERFORMERS (DAY 1) – WOMEN

  • Senior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) finished runner-up in the Women's 200-Meter preliminaries (25.01)
  • Sophomore Brianha Bouchard placed 9th in the Women's 60-Meter Hurdles preliminaries (10.06)
  • Freshman Mia Beaudet (Chadds Ford, Pa.) claimed 10th in the Women's 60-Meter Hurdles preliminaries (10.54)
  • The Women's DMR (Missell, Masterson, Sheline, Thompson) finished 3rd overall (12:48.74)
  • Freshman Elizabeth Jones took the win in the Women's Pole Vault (NE10 Champion – 3.05m)
  • Sophomore Teresa Deasy (Smithtown, N.Y.) placed 4th in the Women's Pole Vault (2.73m)
  • Junior Emma Cutter (Newburybort, Mass.) took 9th in the Women's Pole Vault (2.28m)
  • Junior Grace Silva (Warren, R.I.) T-10th in the Women's Pole Vault (2.13m)

In the hunt for their first indoor title in program history, the action will return to the TRACK at New Balance for the second and final day of the Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships.
