Everidge, Harris Shine for Men’s Track & Field at USM

Connor Everidge

GORHAM, Maine (December 11, 2021) -- Junior Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) put together arguably the strongest meet of his collegiate career thus far on Saturday, as the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team competed at Southern Maine. The junior won the shot put (15.11m) with a throw just eight inches off his career best. Where he did find a career best was in the weight throw (15.33m), where he improved on his previous best mark by more than a foot-and-a-half and finished second.

The meet was not scored from a team perspective.

Everidge did not tally the only accolades of the day for the Ravens, who saw a school record fall as well. Sophomore Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.) won the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.52 seconds. The time will convert to a 60-meter time of 7.01 seconds, eclipsing the mark of 7.04 seconds, shared by Jaris Neville (Dec. 8, 2017) and Mike Abrams (Dec. 7, 2013). Abrams' share of the record dated to just the program's second season and was one of just two school indoor records dating back that far.

Harris was one of three Ravens in the top five in the 55-meter dash, as he was joined by senior Devin Jones (Manchester, N.H.) in fourth (6.74) and sophomore Nathan Rinaldi (Bristol, R.I.) in fifth (6.77). Jones and Rinaldi doubled up and posted identical, 23.20-second marks to finish one-two in the 200-meter dash, with Jones earning the win.

Harris finished with an impressive double on the day, as he also took first place in the high jump by getting up and over 1.95 meters. Elsewhere in the jumping events, it was a third-place finish in the pole vault for sophomore Connor Nordmann (Bethel, Conn.), who cleared 4.15 meters.

It was a top-four sweep for the Ravens in the 800 meters. Sophomore Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) won the race in 1:56.70, and he was followed by sophomore Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) in second (1:57.26), sophomore Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) in third (1:58.30) and sophomore Thomas Darrah (Thetford, Vt.) in fourth (2:01.93). Freshman Logan Mihelich (Northwood, N.H.) added a top-five finish in the mile, as he ran a time of 4:40 to finish fourth.

Franklin Pierce claimed victories in both the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays at USM. The 4x200 team posted a time of 1:31.34, while the 4x400 squad chalked up a 3:35.13.

Everidge led a top-three sweep for Franklin Pierce in the shot put. He was trailed by senior Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine) in second (14.31m) and sophomore Sal Lando (Sterling, Mass.) in third (14.16m), while senior Armani Mette (Randolph, Mass.) took fifth (13.85m). Albee added a fifth-place finish in the weight throw as well (12.29m).

The Ravens are back in action on the other side of the New Year, when they travel to MIT on Saturday, Jan. 8.
