Franklin Pierce men's track & field

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (May 14, 2021) -- A pair of All-New England finishes highlighted the day for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on Saturday, at the second and final day of the NEICAAA Championships (New England Championships). Freshman Stephen Harris (Billerica, Mass.), as well as the 4x800-meter relay team, earned honors for their top-eight performances at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

For the Ravens, the day started in the discus, where junior Croix Albee (Trenton, Maine) and junior Armani Mette (Randolph, Mass.) finished one behind the other. Albee took 18th for a throw of 40.40 meters, while Mette finished 19th with a heave of 39.85 meters.

Fresh off his All-New England performance in Friday's 5k, freshman Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.) returned to the track in the 1500 meters. He turned in a time of 3:57.31 to finish 13th, but was less than a second off of another All-New England performance.

Already assured of an All-New England finish after his run in the preliminaries on Friday, Harris took part in the final of the 100-meter dash. He placed eighth, with a run of 11.02 seconds, which was nearly two-tenths of a second better than his prelim time.

The Ravens entered a trio of runners in the 800 meters. Freshman Ryan Walker (Seabrook, N.H.) led the way with an 11th-place finish, and his 1:54.07 time was less than a second outside of an All-New England finish. Behind Walker, freshman Evan McNeice (Wethersfield, Conn.) was 17th in 1:55.77, and freshman Ryan Outerbridge (Paget, Bermuda) was 23rd in 1:58.98.

Back in the field events, Albee and sophomore Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) were taking part in the shot put. Albee placed 11th, with a throw of 14.86 meters, while Everidge's heave of 14.13 meters was good for 19th.

Franklin Pierce wrapped up its competition at the meet with an All-New England performance from the 4x800-meter relay team. A lineup of freshman Thomas Darrah (Thetford, Vt.), McNeice, Outerbridge and Walker turned in a time of 8:07 to finish seventh.
