MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (January 12, 2018) – Junior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) established a new school record in the 500 meters on Saturday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team at the Middlebury Winter Classic. The Ravens collected 10 top-five finishes on the way to a fourth-place finish at the five-team meet.

The Ravens earned 86 points on the day, which put them fourth, behind Plymouth State (170 points), host Middlebury (137.5 points) and Plattsburgh State (108.5 points).

Guay's school-record run of 1:05.06 was good enough to win the 500 meters. He doubled up with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash, by turning in a time of 23.09 seconds. Freshman Jack Lang (Shelter Island, N.Y.) joined Guay in the top-five of the 500 meters, as he finished fifth, with a run of 1:24.71.

Franklin Pierce had one other event win, which came in the 60-meter dash, courtesy of a time of 7.28 seconds from freshman Ethan Pezzullo (Bristol, R.I.). Pezzullo also added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 23.86 seconds.

The Ravens' other top-five finishes in track events came in longer distances. In the mile, freshman Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) took third (4:34.86), while junior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) placed fifth (4:42.61). Meanwhile, in the 3000 meters, junior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) was third (9:31.44), while sophomore Ryan Ducrow (Amesbury, Mass.) was fifth (9:33.78).

Franklin Pierce also posted two top-five finishes in field events. Senior Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) was second in the high jump (1.78m), and freshman Ishmael Johnson (Lynn, Mass.) was second in the triple jump (11.84m).

The Ravens are back in action on Sunday, Jan. 13, when select members of the team will travel to Hanover, N.H. for the Dartmouth Relays.
