Success in Track Events Paces Men’s Track & Field at UAlbany Spring Classic

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 21, 2018) – A hail of top-10 finishes, and a quartet of top-fives out on the track, led the way for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team on Saturday at the UAlbany Spring Classic, hosted by the University at Albany.

Sophomores Jeff Reddy (Chester, N.H.) and Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.) had the highest finishes of the day for the Ravens, as the duo went two-three in the 3000 meters. Due to an error with the timing technology, the final marks for Reddy's second-place run and Reed's third-place finish are currently unavailable.

Senior Nicholas Jacques (Westfield, Mass.) had the remaining individual top-five outing on the day for the crimson and grey, as he advanced to the final of the 100-meter dash and then turned in a time of 11.03 seconds to finish fourth. Jacques also participated in the 200-meter dash, where he laid down a run of 22.54 seconds to finish sixth.

The Franklin Pierce 4x100-meter squad rounded out the top-five performances on the day for the team. A lineup of sophomore Jebediah Hogan (Gloucester, Mass.), Jacques, senior Daniel Warner (Windham, N.H.) and junior Jaris Neville (Atlanta, Ga.) got the baton around the track in 44.63 seconds to finish fifth.

The Ravens also got a handful of other strong performances out on the track on Saturday: senior Martin Gradijan (Lebanon, N.H.) finished seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:11.44), sophomore Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) placed eighth in the 400 meters (52.40), freshman Colin Stoddard (Charlton, Mass.) took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.30) and sophomore Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) was 10th in the 800 meters (2:01.61). Gradijan's steeplechase time is currently good for 10th in the Northeast-10 Conference.

One other Franklin Pierce participant posted a top-10 mark in the NE10 at the Spring Classic. Senior Rindal Pierre-Canel (Randolph, Mass.) turned in a leap of 6.75 meters to finish sixth in the long jump. The mark is currently tied for seventh in the NE10.

Also of note in field events, junior Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) cleared 1.82 meters in the high jump to finish seventh.

The Ravens will have select participants in action this week at the prestigious Penn Relays, which run April 25-28 at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
