Biunno Posts Three Top-Fives to Lead Men’s Track & Field at George Davis Invitational

LOWELL, Mass. (April 23, 2016) – Senior Vinny Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) posted top-five finishes in the 110-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the long jump on Saturday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University men's track & field team at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Biunno's most impressive mark came in the 110-meter hurdles, where he finished third with a time of 15.12 seconds, which is currently good for third-best in the Northeast-10 Conference so far this spring. He also moved into a tie for third in the NE-10 in the pole vault, as he cleared 4.10 meters to finish fifth. Biunno placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.70 meters, which currently ranks seventh in the league.

Junior Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) posted times which rank in the top 10 in the Northeast-10 in a pair of hurdles events on Saturday. He finished sixth at Lowell in the 400-meter hurdles, with a time of 56.95 seconds, which ranks seventh in the NE-10. Cataldo was also seventh in the 110-meter hurdles, running a time of 15.57 seconds, which is good for fifth in the Conference.

Elsewhere, Ravens posted two other top-fives in field events and two more in track events. On the track, sophomore Nicholas Jacques (Westfield, Mass.) moved to seventh in the NE-10 by placing second in the 100-meter dash (11.13), while sophomore Martin Gradijan (Lebanon, N.H.) took fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:14.93). In the field, freshman Robert Boardman (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) moved into a tie for ninth in the NE-10 in the high jump by placing fifth (1.77m), while graduate student Andre Wooten (St. Charles, Mo.) took fourth in the triple jump (13.37m).

Next week, the Ravens will send select athletes to the prestigious Penn Relays April 28-30, before returning the full squad to action on May 1 at the Capital District Classic, hosted by RPI.
