Men’s Track fourth after day one of Northeast-10 Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 1, 2015) – Juniors Vinny Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) and Chris Bohi (Loudon, N.H.) each topped two leaderboards en route to helping the Franklin Pierce University Men's Track and Field team to a fourth place finish after day one of the Northeast-10 Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.

Biunno and Bohi each placed in the Men's Pole Vault, with Biunno taking bronze with a height of 4.10 meters, scoring six points for the Ravens. Bohi scored a 3.95 meters, garnering four points in fifth. Joining them in the event with placement was junior Max Fanwick (Wilton, Conn.) and sophomore Mark Choiniere (Ballston Spa, N.Y.), who each finished in the top eight as well to score points for Franklin Pierce.

Biunno and Bohi weren't done, as each scored again in other events. Biunno took home fourth place in the Men's Long Jump with a distance of 6.88 meters, collecting another five points. Bohi also placed fourth in the Javelin, tossing a 54.07 meters, and like Biunno, collecting another five points.

The story of the day however, came in the form of the Men's 4x800 meter relay team, which took home first place in the event, collecting a solid 10 points for the Ravens. The team consisted of senior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.), sophomores Matt Carpenter (Gloucester, Mass.) and Dage Minors (Hamilton Parrish, Bermuda), and freshman Josh Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.). The top effort used a time of 7:37.20 minutes, topping second place by only a matter of seconds.

In other Ravens action, junior Ryan Dionne (Amesbury, Mass.) was able to qualify for tomorrow's 100 meter dash final, as he used a time of 11.13 seconds to finish in seventh. Sophomore B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) collected three points for the Ravens with a sixth place finish in the Men's 10,000 meters, finishing with a time of 32:37.11 minutes. Lastly, sophomore Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) qualified himself for the Men's 110 meter hurdles final on Saturday by finishing seventh in the event with a time of 15.48 seconds.

The Ravens will be back in action tomorrow for the second and final day of the championships, held once again at Southern Connecticut State.
