Gisore and Cataldo pace Men’s Track and Field at 2015 Greater Boston Track Club Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (January 25, 2015) – Senior Antoine Gisore (Concord, Mass.) and sophomore Cory Cataldo (Tewksbury, Mass.) each took home a first place finish in events on Sunday afternoon as the Franklin Pierce Men's Track and Field team competed in the 2015 Greater Boston Track Club Invitational held at the Gordon Indoor Track Facility at Harvard University.

The day overall fared well in the Ravens favor all around, as they received a strong showing of times despite the competition not being scored in a team format.

Gisore would steal the show in the Men's 5000 meters, finishing with a time of 14:59.37. That time would beat the second place finisher by 30 seconds even, and would also currently stand as the second fastest time in that event in the Northeast-10 so far this season. Gisore's time also meets the NEICAAA Championships qualifying standard as well.

Cataldo would find his groove in the Men's 60 hurdles, finishing with a time of 8.84 seconds, topping second place by six seconds. His time in the event would hold as the seventh-best in the Northeast-10 this season.

Junior Ryan Dionne (Amesbury, Mass.) found himself a second place finish in the Men's 200 meters with a time of 23.02. Teammates Kevin Sadoski (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Cataldo also placed fifth and sixth in the same event as well.

Three Ravens would crack the top five in the Men's 600 meters, as sophomore Matt Carpenter (Gloucester, Mass.) and freshman Josh Ercolini (Woburn, Mass.) and Zane Robidoux (Goffstown, N.H.) finished 3-4-5 in the event.

Sophomore Dage Minors (Hamilton Parrish, Bermuda) would notch two top four finishes on the day as well, putting in a time of 2:30.38 in the Men's 1000 meters and a time of 4:20.79 in the Men's Mile. Fellow Raven Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) would also crack the top five with a time of 4:24.88.

The mile time Minors would post came to be his fastest time in the event so far this season. The same could be said for Gisore, who ran the event faster than Minors but in a different division. Gisore finished with a time of 4:15.37, giving him his fastest time of the season and giving him another time that meets the NEICAAA Championships qualifying standard as well.

On the field side of things, Franklin Pierce got a strong finish out of junior Vincent Biunno (Montgomery, N.Y.) who posted a third place finish in the Men's Long Jump. Biunno put up a distance of 6.29 meters, putting him in a tie for third with Anthony Charter from Bentley. Lastly, sophomore Mark Choiniere (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) cracked the top five in the Men's Pole Vault with a height of 3.85 meters.

The Ravens return to action this Friday, January 30 when they travel to Boston, Mass. to compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University.
