Gisore Runs Second All-New England 5,000m of 2012-13, Abrams Qualifies for 200m Final at NEICAAA Championship for Men’s Track & Field

Ravens scheduled to compete in seven events on Saturday

Gisore Gisore earned All-New England honors in the outdoor 5,000 meters on Friday, to go with his All-New England performance from the NEICAAA Indoor Championships in February.

EASTON, Mass. (May 10, 2013) – Junior Antoine Gisore (Concord, N.H.) ran a 14:45.56 in the 5,000 meters on Friday afternoon to finish fifth and earn All-New England honors on the second day of the NEICAAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Stonehill at W.B. Mason Stadium. The meet is colloquially known as the New England Championship.

Gisore was the top Division II runner in the 5,000 meters and earned four points for the Ravens in the team competition, putting Franklin Pierce 22nd of 30 teams to earn points at the meet thus far. The time was just over one second faster than his time from the NEICAAA Indoor Championships, where he also earned All-New England honors by finishing seventh. The time was the fastest of 2012-13 for Gisore, as the indoor time had been his previous best.

Meanwhile, freshman Mike Abrams (Newark, N.J.) was one of 30 student-athletes to compete across four heats on Friday in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash. He finished third of eight participants in the third heat, clocking a time of 22.13 seconds to place as the eighth and final qualifier for Saturday's final, scheduled for 3:15 p.m. The time was the second-fastest for Abrams since the indoor season began in December, trailing only his run of 22.10 in an outdoor meet at Tufts on March 30.

The Ravens are scheduled to compete in six events on Saturday's final day of the NEICAAA Championship, in addition to Abrams' run in the 200-meter final. Individually, Gisore will run in the 1,500 meters, freshman Colton Ham (Webster, N.H.) will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and freshman Adam-Corey Rander (Bronx, N.Y.) will compete in the triple jump. The Ravens will also field relay squads in the 4x100 meters, 4x400 meters and 4x800 meters.
