Men's Tennis Falls to Adelphi in NE10 Championship Match

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (5/4/25) - The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team put up a strong fight but ultimately fell to top-seeded Adelphi University, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Point Set Racquet Club in the 2025 NE10 Championship match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens started the match on the right foot, taking the doubles point after a pair of wins at second and third doubles. Ralph Hiebel (Paris, France) and Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain) earned a 6-4 decision at No. 2, while Hugo Diaz Avila (Barcelona, Spain) and Orlando Guerrero (Pachuco, Mexico) pulled out a tiebreak win at No. 3, 7-6 (1), to secure the opening point.
- In singles play, Hiebel continued his stellar day with a straight-set win at No. 3, defeating Hugo Munoz Reinoso, 6-3, 6-3. That victory gave Franklin Pierce a 2-0 lead in the match, but the Panthers responded with four straight wins to clinch the championship. Adelphi earned victories at No. 1, 4, 5, and 6 singles, each in straight sets.
- The No. 2 singles match between Noe Martin (Sainte-Agnès, France) and Louca Bertone went unfinished, with the two players having split sets.
