Men’s Tennis Secures First NE10 Victory of the Spring

WORCESTER, Mass. (4/2/25) – The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team notched its first Northeast-10 Conference win of the spring season with a commanding performance against Assumption. The Ravens set the tone early by sweeping the doubles matches and carried that momentum into singles play, securing four victories to clinch the overall match.

Franklin Pierce dominated in doubles play, securing the opening point with a clean sweep. Ralph Hiebel and Alejandro Ortiz powered through at No. 2 doubles, dropping just one game in a 6-1 win. The No. 1 pairing of Joe Herin and Noe Martin battled through a tight contest, earning a crucial late break to edge the Greyhounds, 6-3. At No. 3 doubles, Orlando Guerrero and Hugo Diaz Avila delivered a strong performance, cruising to a 6-1 victory.

In singles action, the Ravens continued their strong showing, winning four of six matches. Hugo Diaz set the pace at No. 6 singles with a dominant 6-0, 6-3 win. Ralph Hiebel followed with a 6-2, 4-6 victory at No. 3, while Noe Martin secured a solid 6-3, 6-3 result at No. 2. Though Alejandro Ortiz fell at No. 4 to Pijnacker (6-3, 6-2), Joe Herin clinched the team victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1. The final match saw Orlando Guerrero narrowly fall to Balancho, 6-4, 7-5.

The Ravens will continue NE10 play on Saturday when they travel to face Bentley.
