Men's Tennis Edged Out in Singles by Bentley University, 4-3

WALTHAM, Mass. (4/4/23) - In their fourth in-conference matchup of the spring, the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis program dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Bentley University on Tuesday afternoon on the road.

Pierce men's tennis continues to search for their first win of the spring, and falls to 3-10 (0-4 NE10) overall with the loss. Bentley boosts to 6-5 (2-2 NE10) with the win at home.

The day started out nicely for the Ravens, who claimed the doubles point with wins at two-of-three doubles positions. Senior Joshua Arnold (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) and partner Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) opened with a close 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles, defeating Bentley's Max Bonte and Jordan Soifer. Then, at No. 3 doubles, senior Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad & Tobago) and junior Joé Herin (Tias, Spain) secured the point with a convincing 6-3 win over Tawan Rattaseri and Liam Marr.

However, the host Falcons would go on to win the whole thing by taking four of the six singles matches. For the Ravens, Preston Gordon went two-for-two on the day with a win at the No. 3 position over Gabe Horwitz, but did so in three sets by scores of 6-0, 6-7 and 6-3. The only other win would be from freshman Orlando Guerrero (Pachuco, Mexico) at No. 5 singles, where he posted 6-4 and 6-3 scores against Falcon opponent Tawan Rattaseri.

Men's tennis will host in-state rival Southern New Hampshire University this coming Thursday, April 6th for a 2:00 p.m. first serve at the Franklin Pierce Tennis Courts.
