Men's Tennis Dealt Fifth Straight Loss at Quinnipiac University, 6-1

HAMDEN, Conn. (3/18/23) - On Saturday evening, the Franklin Pierce men's tennis team suffered another setback in the form of a 6-1 loss to Quinnipiac University at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club.

It is the fifth straight loss for Peirce men's tennis, who continues to search for their first win of the spring, falling to 3-6 overall. Quinnipiac raises to 4-7 overall with the victory.

At first doubles, seniors Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) and Joshua Arnold (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) came the closest to earning a a tagteam victory, but ultimately fell by a 7-5 score to Quinnipiac's Ayato Arakaki and Donovan Brown. With decisive 6-2 wins in the final two doubles positions, the Bobcats quickly moved ahead to a 1-0 advantage.

In singles play, graduate Ethan Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) gave the Ravens their top result of the day with a victory at the No. 6 spot. Hall posted a hard-fought, three-set win over Quinnipiac's Gaurav Mootha (QU) by scores of 7-6 (8), 3-6, and 10-8. However, the hosts were lights out throughout the remainder of singles action, with all but one ending in two sets.

Men's Tennis will open their in-conference schedule against Le Moyne College this Tuesday, March 21st with first serve scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Dewitt, New York.
