NEW LONDON, N.H. (10/5/22) - The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team earned their first win of the season in a 7-1 road triumph over Colby-Sawyer College on Wednesday afternoon. It was also the first head-to-head matchup for the Ravens since Friday, September 16th.

The Ravens jumped out to a 2-0 lead through the doubles portion of the match. Graduate newcomer Ethan Hall (Duxbury, Mass.) and senior Paul McLellan (Nairobi, Kenya) kicked off the action with an 8-1 victory at No. 3, which then translated into a win by seniors Joshua Arnold (Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago) and Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.), who emerged victorious by an 8-4 final at the second flight. The Chargers would secure a win at first doubles, but would fail to score beyond their only point of the afternoon.

In singles competition, both Joshua Arnold and Paul McLellan secured their second wins of the evening, each in two sets by matching scores of 6-0, and 6-1. Senior Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad & Tobago) also kept things brief in his lone appearance of the match, besting Charger opponent Aiden Jensen at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-1 in each of the two sets.

Both Ethan Hall and senior Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain) also contributed wins at sixth and third singles respectively, as first singles was left unfinished due to darkness.

The men's tennis campaign continues on the road with a matchup versus former Northeast-10 opponent Stonehill College, coming up on Thursday, October 13th at 3:30 p.m.
