Rindge, N.H. (4/21/22) – The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team concluded their regular season on Thursday afternoon, ending on a high note with a shutout victory at home versus Stonehill College, edging the Skyhawks 7-0.

With the home win, Franklin Pierce moves to 6-8 (3-4 NE10) on the season. Stonehill slides to 6-8 (0-6 NE10) on the season with the loss.

Doubles gave the Ravens a huge boost early on, with a clean sweep through all three doubles matchups.  At first doubles, Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain) and Felipe Carvalho (Sao Paulo, Brazil) wasted no time in posting a 6-4 victory over opponents Christian Duffy and Ben Simmons. In similar fashion at third doubles, the combination effort of Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago) and Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) posted a victory by the same score. In the middle matchup, Ivan Bernal (Madrid, Spain) and Kevin Denecheau (Artigueloutan, France) doubled up on opposing pair Louis Coppi and Guillaume Duhil de Benaze, finalizing the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory.

Singles was a similar story for Franklin Pierce, with all parties involved posting dominant performances in two sets each. At third singles, Kevin Denecheau battled through a pair of close two-point lead wins, with the rest finishing by at least three-point set differences. With the win in hand, fifth singles ended in early retirement with a single set victory of 6-1 by Preston Gordon. The remaining singles wins belonged to Felipe Carvalho, Ivan Bernal, Nkrumah Patrick and Alejandro Ortiz.

With the conclusion of the regular season, the Ravens currently occupy the 6th place position in the NE10 conference standings, and will claim the final spot in the upcoming NE10 Tournament, with the official bracket announcement expected this coming weekend.
