Men's Tennis Silenced Versus Le Moyne, 7-0

Peterborough, N.H. (3/27/22) – The Franklin Pierce men's tennis team hosted Le Moyne in their first home meet of the 2022 season yesterday afternoon, but were held out of the wins column as the Dolphins spoiled the homecoming by a shut-out final score of 7-0 at the Monadnock Indoor Tennis Club.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce slips to 4-5 this season, and have lost four out of their last five meetings. Le Moyne continues to lead the NE10 Conference with the win, improving to 10-1 (3-0 versus conference opponents.)

For the Ravens, there were some close finishes despite the shut-out loss. Two singles matchups (#2 & #4) found themselves playing to full three sets, as well as a close battle at #3 Doubles. At #2 singles, graduate student Kevin Denecheau (Artigueloutan, France) took an early lead in the first set, winning against Le Moyne opponent Manuel Righi 6-3. The second set was a loss for Denecheau, but was played to a 40-love score with Righi claiming the additional two points. Le Moyne would ultimately emerge victorious in the third set, flipping the script from the first and winning 6-3.

In similar fashion at #4 singles, Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad & Tobago) took the first set victory 6-3, with the Le Moyne response emerging in the second. At the tiebreak set, Dolphin's representative Kacper Piekarek came-out the winner over Patrick, winning 10-5.

Men's Tennis will be back at it this coming Wednesday, 3/30 for a midweek conference matchup with Adelphi at 2PM E.T.
