Men's Tennis Sweeps Colby-Sawyer, 7-0

RINDGE, N.H. (September 28, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team swept non-conference opponent, Colby-Sawyer, 7-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Tennis Courts.

The Ravens took the lead early after taking the doubles point. Sophomore Ivan Bernal (Madrid, Spain) and graduate student Kevin Denecheau (Artigueloutan, France) won 6-2 at court No. 3 over Colby-Sawyer's Griffin Forberg and Aiden Jensen, before the duo of graduat student Felipe Carvalho (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and senior Preston Gordon (Essex Junction, Vt.) defeated their opponents Khameron Savatdy and Ben Butenas of Colby-Sawyer 6-0 at No. 2. Senior Nkrumah Patrick (Tunapuna, Trinidad and Tobago) and junior Alejandro Ortiz (Madrid, Spain) downed Julius Lowman and Ian Ullmann of Colby-Sawyer 6-2 on court No. 1.

Maintaining their momentum, Franklin Pierce picked up wins at all six courts in singles competition. Denecheau finished first on No. 2 singles, defeating Forberg of Colby-Sawyer 6-0, 6-0, followed by Bernal on No. 4, who defeated Jensen of Colby-Sawyer 6-2, 6-0. Gordon claimed his point after defeating Ullmann of Colby-Sawyer 6-1, 6-2 on No. 3 and Carvalho took down Colby-Sawyer's Lowman 6-2, 6-1 on No. 1. Patrick won 6-0, 6-0 over Butenas of Colby-Sawyer on court No. 5, while junior Josh Arnold (Scarborough, Trinidad and Tobago) grabbed the match point, downing Colby-Sawyer's Savatdy 8-1 on No. 6.

Franklin Pierce heads to North Andover, Mass., to compete in a doubles tournament hosted by Merrimack College on Saturday, October 2, through Sunday, October 3. Match times will be announced at a later date.
