WESTON, Mass. (October 12, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team posted an 8-1 win on the road on Thursday afternoon, in non-conference play at Regis (Mass.).

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 2-1, while Regis falls to 5-2.

The most entertaining match of the day came at first singles, where Franklin Pierce junior James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) locked horns with Regis senior Chris Harrow. The former won the first set, 6-3, while the latter forced a second-set tiebreak, which he won 9-7. The tiebreaker set then went long as well, with Bisazza ultimately prevailing for the 6-3, 6-7 (7), 11-9 victory.

Bisazza was also a winner at first doubles, as he teamed with fellow junior Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) for an 8-5 win over Harrow and junior Luke Horton. The Ravens would go on to take all three doubles contests to open play with a 3-0 lead on Thursday. At second doubles, it was an 8-2 win for freshman Roberto Chong (Puigpunyent, Spain) and sophomore Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) over sophomore Nolan Bebarta and freshman Johnny Pallotta. Meanwhile, at third doubles, juniors Marcus Lawrence (Acton, Mass.) and Dan Longtin (Eliot, Maine) notched an 8-5 win over sophomore Kyle Dugat and freshman Tim Miller.

Behind Bisazza in singles play, Franklin Pierce picked up straight-set victories at second, third, fourth and fifth singles to finish piling up the team's eight points on the day. Chong breezed past Horton at second singles, 6-0, 6-1; Barak cruised over Bebarta at third singles, 6-1, 6-2; Schadt defeated junior Cam Charbonneau at fourth singles, 6-2, 7-5; and Lawrence took care of Pallotta at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-1.

The only win of the afternoon for Regis came at sixth singles. Dugat defeated Longtin in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 14, when they return home to host Emerson in a non-conference contest at 11 a.m. in Rindge.
