Men’s Tennis Downed at Bentley, 8-1

FRANKLIN, Mass. (March 28, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated on Tuesday afternoon, 8-1, on the road in Northeast-10 Conference play by Bentley.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-8 (0-1 NE10), while Bentley improves to 7-5 (2-1 NE10).

The only point of the day for Franklin Pierce came at second doubles. Freshman Yuval Barak (Zicron Ya'akov, Israel) and sophomore Marcus Lawrence (Acton, Mass.) teamed up to take an 8-5 decision from Bentley senior Chase Rosa and sophomore Dylan Granat.

Meanwhile, the Falcons picked up an 8-4 win at first doubles and an 8-2 victory at third doubles to take a 2-1 lead. Bentley then collected all six singles points to come away with the 8-1 triumph.

Singles play was at its most-competitive at second and third singles. At second singles, Barak split the first two sets against junior George Samander, before the latter pulled out a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory. Meanwhile, at third singles, sophomore Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) took the first set from sophomore Michael Fuca, in a match which ultimately needed a tiebreaker third set. Fuca eventually came away with a 6-7, 6-4, 10-2 win.

The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, March 29, when they return home to host Southern New Hampshire in an NE10 match at 2:30 p.m. in Rindge.
