Ravens wrap up fall season Sunday at Hartford

MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 17, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated on Friday afternoon, 9-0, by Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at SNHU.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-5 (0-4 Northeast-10), while SNHU improves to 2-1 (2-1 Northeast-10).

Multiple Ravens put together strong showings in singles play on Friday afternoon at SNHU. At first singles, senior Christopher Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) tussled with Penmen freshman Xavier Aubron. Brewer took three games in each set, but dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision. Meanwhile, at fourth singles, freshman Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) squared off with senior Evan Eaton. Viel hung close in both sets, but ultimately fell, 6-4, 6-3.

In all, each of the five SNHU players who competed in both singles and doubles play won twice on Friday afternoon. Freshman Emerson Kelby led the way for the Penmen by winning at both first doubles and second singles. At first doubles, he teamed with Eaton for an 8-3 win. Later, at second singles, Kelby rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, Oct. 19, when they wrap up the fall portion of their season with a non-conference match at Hartford at 10 a.m. in West Hartford, Conn.
