Men’s Tennis Downed At Bentley, 9-0

Ravens host Adelphi on Oct. 17

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 4, 2009) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s tennis team was defeated, 9-0, by Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play at Bentley on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Bentley improves to 2-1 (2-0 Northeast-10), while Franklin Pierce falls to 0-2 (0-2 Northeast-10).

After Bentley swept through the three doubles matches while losing only three games, the Falcons were met with a little more resistance in singles play. At third singles, Franklin Pierce sophomore Ben Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) kept things close in the first set before eventually falling to Bentley sophomore Alec Spycher, 6-4, 6-1. At fourth singles, it was sophomore Ryo Miyazaki (Tokyo, Japan) who kept things close with Bentley sophomore Victor Suski before falling 6-2, 6-3.

All six Falcons were victorious in both singles and doubles on the afternoon. Freshmen Lucas Wever and Rodrigo Ribeiro did not lose a game on the afternoon, as they teamed up to sweep their match at third doubles, 8-0, before each posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Similarly, senior Lorenzo Cava Guerra posted an 8-1 win with Spycher in first singles before tallying a 6-0, 6-0 win of his own at first singles.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Oct. 17, when they host Adelphi in a Northeast-10 Conference match at noon in Rindge, N.H.
