Rodrigues Selected 55th Overall In MLS SuperDraft by New York City FC

NEW YORK, N.Y. (12/21/22) – Big news continued to surround the Franklin Pierce men's soccer program on Wednesday evening, as sophomore forward Braudilio Rodrigues (Lisbon, Portugal) was selected by New York City FC in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft as the 55th overall pick.

Rodrigues becomes the fifth player in the programs history to be drafted by an MLS franchise-the third all-time in the MLS SuperDraft. Rodrigues joins fellow All-American draftees James Thorpe (2007), Christopher Joyce (2006), Felix Brillant (2004) and Bojan Vuckovic (1996).

New York City FC has been a part of Major League Soccer since its debut season in 2015, and has claimed one league championship in its seven years as a franchise (2021). Rodrigues joins New York following his participation in the MLS College Showcase, after leading all of Division II men's soccer in total assists (22) and points (62). His offensive efforts helped the Ravens secure their strongest regular season performance in program history (25-0-1), claiming the Northeast-10 Conference title, East Region title, and eventually winning it all with the team's first National Title since 2007. The same efforts also garnered the forceful forward Northeast-10 Player of the Year, D2CCA Ron Lenz National Player of the Year, and United Soccer Coaches East Region and National Player of the Year recognition. Rodrigues was also a First Team recipient for Northeast-10 All-Conference, D2CCA All-East Region and All-America, and finally United Soccer Coaches All-East Region.
