Resendes, Men's Soccer Staff Named Best in DII by United Soccer Coaches (USC)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (12/2/22) - For the first time since 2007, the Franklin Pierce men's soccer coaching staff received top marks from United Soccer Coaches, receiving National Staff of the Year honors per their official announcement on Wednesday December, 14th by the USC offices. The accolades come as the highest honor that can be bestowed to a Division-II coaching staff by United Soccer Coaches.

The award comes after the Ravens' staff were named the East Region's staff of the year by United Soccer Coaches back on December 2nd.

Out of a 16 total collegiate staff award winners, fourteen concluded the 2022 season as either national or CCCAA champions in their respective divisions. All members of these staffs will be honored at the upcoming United Soccer Coaches Awards Banquet on January 13th of 2023 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event will also be running alongside the annual United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Led by head coach Ruben Resendes, Franklin Pierce's coaching staff also featured the likes of associate head coach Brendan Pacheco, and assistants Andres MartinsDominik MachadoJoseph Sylvestre '22 and David Walsh. It is only the second time in program history the coaching staff has received the high honor from United Soccer Coaches, with the previous owner being Marco Koolman and his staff from the 2007 National Title campaign.

This season proved to be the best of all-time for Franklin Pierce men's soccer, who sought out and secured the ultimate prize of DII Men's Soccer with a 2-0 defeat over No.2 Colorado State-Pueblo, claiming the program's second national title. The Ravens powered their way to the top of the standings after posting a 24-0-1 mark, claiming both the Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament titles, and brushed past all opponents at every stop throughout the NCAA Tournament. Franklin Pierce has spent most of the season ranked as the top team in the nation, and finished the job with the penultimate victory on December, 3rd.
