Rodrigues, Three Others Claim Men's Soccer D2CCA All-America Honors

POMONA, Calif. (11/30/22) – Sophomore forward Braudilio Rodrigues (Lisbon, Portugal) headlined the unveiling of the 2022 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Men's Soccer All-America Team honors, which was revealed on Wednesday afternoon. In addition to First Team recognition, Rodrigues was also named the recipient of the Ron Lenz National "Player of the Year", which is bestowed to the top men's soccer student-athlete in the nation.

Joining Rodrigues on the First Team podium is senior defender Aitor Aguado (Getxo, Spain) and graduate midfielder Jonas Cervera Anchel (Chiva, Spain), while senior goalkeeper Kosta Maniatis (Montreal, Quebec) received Second Team recognition. Rodrigues is the first Raven player to receive the National Player of the Year honors since it's debut in 2006, as well as the third player from the East Region at the Division II level to be awarded the honor for men's soccer.  

This season, Rodrigues claimed Player of the Year honors from both the NE10 conference, and the D2CCA East Region. After appearing in all 24 games throughout this season, Rodrigues has totaled a matching 20 goals and 20 assists (20-20-60), leading the nation in the latter statistic.

Cervera Anchel has also been right there on the scoresheet this season for the Ravens, netting seven goals along with 14 assists in 24 starts. In total assists, the Raven graduate broke through the national rankings, currently ranked fifth in the category, earning him his First Team All-America honor in his collegiate career.

Senior defender Aitor Aguado served as a mainstay on the Ravens defensive end, starting in all 24 matches this fall. Throughout the season, Aguado helped the team to a nationally second-ranked goals against average (.294), along with a program record 16 shutouts. Additionally, the senior defender is receiving First Team recognition for the first time.

As the last line of defense for Pierce soccer, Kosta Maniatis also played a integral role in the historic season for the Raven defensive corps, totaling 1596:08 minutes on the field. During that time, he posted a 17-0-1 record with 12 shutouts, making 18 saves on 24 total shots faced versus opponents. After being named to the First Team last season, it is his second time being honored by D2CCA on the All-America ballot.

Men's Soccer begins their hunt for a national title on Thursday, November 30th at Interbay Stadium in Seattle, Washington where they will take on No.4 Lake Erie at 2:00 p.m. in the NCAA DII Semifinal round.
