Northeast-10 Conference Men's Soccer Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass. (11/1/22) - An avalanche of fourteen members from the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer program were named as recipients of the Northeast-10 Conference's end-of-season awards, including four major award winners per the league announcement on Tuesday afternoon. For the second straight season, The Ravens nearly took a clean sweep through the major awards, beginning with sophomore forward Braudilio Rodrigues (Lisbon, Portugal) who claimed Player of the Year honors, and senior defender Aitor Aguado (Getxo, Spain) who collected Defensive Player of the Year honors from the conference. Additionally, for the second consecutive season, junior Kosta Maniatis (Montreal, Quebec) was selected as NE10's Goalkeeper of the Year, and head coach Ruben Resendes captured Coach of the Year accolades.

All three player recipients of the major awards also earned spots on the All-Conference First Team, and were joined by graduates Jonas Cervera Anchel (Chiva, Spain) and Jesus Gonzalez Diaz (Gilena, Spain), senior Jounes Addar (Castellon, Spain), and juniors Vicente Valor Martinez (San Juan, Spain), Rodrigo Vaza (Torres Verdes, Portugal) and Bernardo Prego (Evora, Portugal). The nine total members claimed a new program record for the highest number of first team honorees, shattering their previous mark from last season (6).

Joining the first team Ravens on the podium is a trio of All-NE10 Second Team honorees: graduates Miguel Angel Pastor Gutierrez (Valencia, Spain) and Miguel Secades Rodrigues (Langreo, Spain), as well as senior Rodrigo Parafita (Cerceda, Spain). In addition, graduate Marc Lopez (Valencia, Spain) was the lone member to land on the All-Conference Third Team.

Both Maniatis and Cervera Anchel are receiving All-NE10 First Team honors for the second time in their collegiate career,  while all other Raven honorees are receiving their respective selections for the first time.

Braudilio Rodrigues set the standard and has been alone atop the Northeast-10's offensive totals through the majority of the season, leading the conference in all four categories including goals scored (16), assists (11) and total points (44). The sophomore forward has appeared in all 19 contests this season for the Ravens, having started in 18 total in his career season.

This year, the Raven defensive corps has contributed heavily to its success in limiting the opponent's offensive chances, with senior Aitor Aguado playing an intrical part in the process. Throughout the season, Aguado started in all 19 matchups in a campaign that saw the Raven backfield chase a new program record for fewest goals allowed in a single season, having only allowed three with 16 total shutout victories.

Maniatis returned to the goal as a consistent starter for the Ravens this season, with 14 starts in which time he turned away 16 of 19 shots faced. Overall, the senior keeper sits atop the goalie rankings for the Northeast-10 Conference, leading in goals against average (0.20), save percentage (.842) and total goals allowed (3), with a career-best 11 shutouts.

Additionally from the pool of first team selectees, first-year senior Younes Addar immediately fit in offensively this season with 11 goals scored through 19 games played, currently ranked second on the team and third in the conference in total goals scored. From the midfield, third-year returner Jonas Cervera Anchel was also a consistent presence for the Ravens' offense, chalking up an 5-11-21 line in 19 starts throughout the campaign.

On the Second Team front, graduate Miguel Secades Rodriguez led the way with a trio of goals in eight starts, adding in five assists for 11 points this season. Fellow graduate honoree Miguel Angel Pastor Gutierrez also found the net on three occasions throughout the season, going 3-4-10 in 12 appearances. First year senior Rodrigo Parafita was another mainstay on the Raven's defensive end, starting in all 19 contests while sneaking in some offense with a pair of assists.

To round out the long list of names, graduate midfielder Marc Lopez stood alone as the Third Team honoree for the Ravens, finishing fourth on the squad in total points (16) with a 7-2-16 line in 19 appearances with four starts.

Men's soccer returns to action on Wednesday, November 2nd for a Northeast-10 Championship semifinal round rematch with in-state rival No. 4 Southern New Hampshire, with kickoff at 7 p.m. at Sodexo Field.
