Second-Half Kehoe Goal Lifts No. 5 Men’s Soccer at Adelphi, 1-0

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (October 30, 2021) – The No. 5 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men's soccer won a crucial game against Adelphi on the road on Saturday at Motamed Field, in a battle of two of the top three teams in the Northeast-10 Conference. Graduate student Alan Kehoe (Dublin, Ireland) had the game's only goal, in the 55th minute, as the Ravens picked up a 1-0 victory.

The Ravens now move to 15-1-0 (10-1-0 NE10) with the win, while the Panthers fall to 9-5-1 (8-3-0 NE10). For the Ravens, it was their 10th shutout win of the season. 

In the first half, the Ravens outshot the Panthers, 5-1, as Franklin Pierce controlled the tempo, but was unable to score any goals.

In the second half, Franklin Pierce picked up the pace and had three shots on goal in a span of five minutes. In the 55th minute, Kehoe scored his first goal as a member of the crimson and grey, as he got on the other end of a through ball from graduate student Pedro Juan Vicente (Elche, Spain) and finished a shot from the left side of the penalty area. The Ravens outshot the Panthers, 8-5, in the second half, and enjoyed an overall advantage of 7-1 in shots on goal.

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Kosta Maniatis (Montreal, Quebec) needed to make only one save in the win (12-1-0) to get his eighth shutout of the season. For the Panthers, junior Daniel De La Heras (8-2-0) made five saves against six shots in the loss, while his defense chipped in a team save as well.

The Ravens head back home to Sodexo Field on Wednesday, Nov. 3, for their final regular-season game, against American International College at 4 p.m.
