#2 Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff Named Region Staff of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 17, 2021) – The no. 2 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team coaching staff was honored by being named one of the 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Regional Staffs of the Year it was announced earlier this week by the association.

Each of the 43 (21 men's and 22 women's) staffs receiving Regional Staff of the Year honors will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony, which will be made available to view online as a digital event beginning June 30.

In addition, the Regional Staff of the Year recipients have been placed on the ballot for United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division.

Head coach Ruben Resendes' staff consisting of assistant coaches Brendan Pacheco, Dominik Machado, Niklas Laudahn, David Walshand Sheddy Agbonsalo were the NCAA Division II East Region Staff of the Year after guiding the Ravens to a perfect 6-0 record in their spring season while outscoring opponents 16-to-2 in their games.

Pierce started the year with a 1-0 shutout of NCAA Division I the University of Rhode Island, the 2019 Atlantic-10 Conference Champions. They then earned back-to-back victories against Northeast-10 Conference opponent American International University out producing the Yellow Jackets 8-to-1 combined in both matches. Pierce then headed south on the road to take on Providence College, which played three NCAA Division I tournament games in 2019 with FPU earning the 2-1 victory. The Crimson and Gray returned to NE10 play shutting out the University of New Haven 3-0 then capping off their abbreviated schedule 2-0 with DI University at Albany (State University of New York) on Sodexo Field.
