2007 Men’s Soccer National Championship Team Inducted into Northeast-10 Hall of Fame

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (June 9, 2016) – The 2007 Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team, which captured the national championship, has been inducted into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame, as announced by the Conference office at the league's annual banquet earlier this week. The Ravens were among three teams and six individuals inducted by the Northeast-10.

The 2007 Ravens men's soccer squad is the most recent of the University's six national championship teams, and is the only national title captured by Franklin Pierce while playing under the banner of the Northeast-10. The Ravens finished 17-2-4 in 2007 and capped the campaign with a 1-0 win over No. 16 nationally ranked Lincoln Memorial in the national title game. David Clifton struck in the 89th minute for the contest's lone goal. The national title came in the program's third Final Four appearance, as well as two years after finishing as national runners-up in 2005.

To be inducted into the Northeast-10 Hall of Fame as a team, a program must capture the national title. The Conference continues to honor its national champions on an annual basis, as this was the third straight year in which three national championship teams were inducted. Joining the Ravens in the Hall of Fame Class of 2016 on the team front were the 2006-07 Southern Connecticut State women's basketball team and the 2007 Le Moyne men's lacrosse squad.

Individuals inducted earlier this week included: Assumption men's tennis coach John Ippolito, Bentley football student-athlete Mackenzy Bernadeau, Bentley volleyball coach Sandy Hoffman, Bryant golf coach Archie Boulet, Merrimack women's basketball student-athlete Joelle Martin and Saint Anselm men's basketball student-athlete Chris Madigan.

The 2007 men's soccer team is Franklin Pierce's fifth inductee into the Northeast-10 Hall of Fame. The squad joins four individuals: Johannah Leedham (inducted in 2015); Laura Hislop (2012); Justin Blood (2011); and Dr. George Hagerty (2010), the University's third president.
