Nicholas Schibly notches goal for the Ravens
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 23, 2009) – The
Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team dropped a tough
2-1 decision at Le Moyne on Wednesday evening in Syracuse, N.Y.
Franklin Pierce dipped to 5-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the
Northeast-10. Le Moyne improved to 6-1-1 and 3-1 in the league.
Freshman forward Nicholas Schibly (Litchfield,
N.H.) notched the only goal of the game for the Ravens. It
was unassisted and came at the 29:37 mark of the contest as he bent
a shot around from 12 yards out to give Franklin Pierce a 1-0
advantage.
However, Le Moyne answered with a pair of goals in the second half
to pull out the win. Zach Kuzemka (67:29) and Marcus Debottis
(77:34) recorded markers to lead the Dolphins in the final 45
minutes.
Sophomore goalkeeper Vinny Papageorgiou (Wilmington,
Mass.) made three saves in the contest for Franklin
Pierce. The Ravens out-shot Le Moyne, 15-10, over the 90 minutes,
but Dolphins goalkeeper Steve White made seven stops to help keep
his team in it.
The win halted Franklin Pierce’s winning streak at three
games, which saw the Ravens out-score the competition, 7-0, during
that time.
Franklin Pierce will look to get back to its winning ways this
Saturday when it travels to Merrimack for a 1 p.m. contest.
