RINDGE, NH (4/2/2024) – The Franklin Pierce men's lacrosse fell short on a rain-soaked Tuesday night in Northeast-10 play against the AIC Yellow Jackets, 8-6.

Score: Franklin Pierce 6, AIC 8
Records: Franklin Pierce (3-6, 0-4 NE-10), AIC (5-6, 1-4 NE-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens opened the scoring just 2:20 into the 1st quarter. Conor Rooney (Wilmington, Mass.) dished a pass from behind the cage to Ryan Ciolfi (Hampton, N.H.), who zipped a shot from the left side to put the Ravens ahead 1-0. The Yellow Jackets knotted the score at one a piece as Micaiah Boyle fired a rocket from about 20 yards out. Conor Rooney helped the Ravens re-gain the lead as he dashed from the x-spot, then curled to the front of the net and flicked it in from the left side to give the Ravens the 2-1 lead. Rooney then added another just 51 seconds later, performing a similar move but from the right side to put the Ravens up by a pair, 3-1 to end the 1st quarter.
  • The Ravens capitalized on the man-up to begin the 2nd quarter. Alex Costa (Billerica, Mass.) dished a pass to the middle for Connor Henchey (Bellingham, Mass.) who lasered a shot by the Yellow Jackets goalkeeper for the 4-1 lead. The Ravens offense continued to thrive, capping off a 4-0 run with Jackson Philion (Charlton, Mass.) whipping in a shot to give the Ravens a comfortable 5-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets cut into the Ravens lead before the halftime break, with goals from Callan Dent and Seven Gillingham to make it a 5-3 Ravens lead at halftime.
  • Just like the first 2 quarters, the Ravens once again opened the scoring in the 3rd quarter. Conor Rooney added his second assist of the night as he fed a pass to Jackson Hale (Kensington, N.H.) who ripped a shot from the left side to give the Ravens the 6-3 lead. The Yellow Jackets responded as Carter Linkletter went coast-to-coast on the man-down and beat Mike Masterpolo (Kingston, Mass.) to make it a 6-4 deficit for AIC.
  • The Ravens were in control for most of the game, but the Yellow Jackets came back for a remarkable 4th quarter effort. Dawson Long cashed in on the man-up to pull the Yellow Jackets within one and make the score 6-5. Then, they tied the score with a goal from Aiden Moscarello. The Yellow Jackets once again took advantage on the man-up as Andrew Boyer put them ahead for the first time in the game, giving them the 7-6 lead. Late in the 4th quarter, Hunter Terlik won a crucial ground ball off a face-off and drove right to the goal, scoring an insurance goal for the Yellow Jackets and sealing the 8-6 come from behind victory.
