MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 17, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team's three-game winning streak came to an end on the road with a 15-6 setback at no. 14 nationally-ranked and Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Anselm College Saturday afternoon at Grappone Stadium. The loss sends Pierce to 3-5, 3-5 NE10 while the hosts remain unblemished at 8-0, 8-0 NE10.

Junior attack Patrick Mulhern (Pembroke, Mass.) produced half of the Ravens offense notching a career-high three goals. Senior midfielder Josh Dorr (Brunswick, Maine) chipped in two goals and an assist while classmate Mike Alibrandi (Holliston, Mass.) added the final score for Pierce.

On the defensive end, junior defender Robert Colburn (Walpole, Mass.) had a contest best two caused turnovers giving him 15 on the year, the third-highest total in the conference. In net, NE10 Rookie of the Week, freshman James Heitmiller (Nashua, N.H.) made 13 saves in the setback.

For Saint Anselm, Jack Robinson racked up a five-point effort with three goals and two dimes. Netminder CJ Hart stayed undefeated 8-0 stopping 15 shots in the W.

The host Hawks dominated the loose balls picking up 46 to the Ravens 17, however, there wasn't a big difference in the shot totals (51-42) in favor of Saint Anselm. Pierce was more successful in clearing the zone (21-to-20).

SAC put together three straight goals in the opening eight minutes of the contest to build an early 3-0 edge. At the 5:14 mark, sophomore midfielder Sean Daly (Holliston, Mass.) found Alibrandi for the Ravens first score as it was a 3-1 match after the first quarter.

Both squads traded goals two minutes apart in the second quarter with Dorr collecting an unassisted tally as the Ravens remained behind by two, 4-2. Saint Anselm then put together three in a row including a man-advantage goal off the shot of Jack Robinson to hold a 7-2 advantage at the intermission.

In the third, Mulhern began the scoring and closed it out with 10 seconds left as Pierce trailed 9-5. Saint Anselm pulled away from the Ravens in the fourth out producing them 6-1 with the lone FPU score coming from Mulhern as he completed the second-half hat trick.

The Ravens head back home next Wednesday for their final two home games, the first against Bentley University at 3:00 p.m.
