WORCESTER, Mass. (April 14, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team came back down 9-7 in the fourth quarter scoring the final three goals of the game for their third straight win, a 10-9 victory on the road at Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption University Wednesday afternoon at Brian Kelly Stadium. The win moves the Crimson and Gray to 3-4, 3-4 NE10 while the Greyhounds remain winless at 0-4, 0-4 NE10.

Sophomore defender Eric Bua Jr. (Revere, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with 2:28 left in regulation. His second goal of the season and second career tally came in transition when the long pole defender bounced home a shot attempt during the Raven attack.

On the offensive end, sophomore midfielder Sean Daly (Kingston, Mass.) and senior midfielder Josh Dorr (Brunswick, Maine) produced a game-high three goals apiece. Reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week, goalkeeper James Heitmiller (Nashua, N.H.) earned the victory (3-4) and made 12 saves in net.

For Assumption, Nolan Sheehan poured in three goals and Nicholas Shanley tallied four points, two goals, and two assists.

Scoring was hard to come by in the first quarter as the Ravens cracked the scoring column first when sophomore attack Caleb Ikkela (Onset, Mass.) dangled through traffic out of a timeout for the 1-0 Pierce edge. The second quarter was all Ravens when they put home three consecutive goals upping their 2-1 lead to a 5-1 halftime score. Daly kicked off the period with the first two Raven goals before Dorr followed with two of his own. Senior midfielder Mike Alibrandi (Holliston, Mass.) kicked a cross-field pass from the left side to the right and Dorr buried the one-timer.

In the new half, the Hounds did most of their damage in the third quarter racking up six consecutive goals in the opening five minutes of the period. Sheehan scored back-to-back goals and Ryan Healey ended their scoring spurt by running down the right side and cashing home the attempt. Dorr and sophomore attack Owen McCormack (Hampstead, N.H.) helped deadlock the margin at 7-7 with McCormack collecting a loose ball rebound and shooting it in buy the right post.

Assumption came out the gate firing in the fourth jumping ahead 9-7 at the 11:56 mark. Five minutes passed when Daly spun through the left side bringing the deficit to one, 9-8. 10 seconds later sophomore midfielder Nathaniel Girardin (Brunswick, Maine) sprinted through the middle of the field after a face-off and banged home the game-tying goal making it 9-9. Bua Jr. then gave the Ravens the lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Ravens put their three-game winning streak on the line Saturday evening at NE10 foe and no. 14 nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College at 1:00 p.m.
