COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 7, 2021) – Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse sophomore midfielder Sean Daly (Kingston, Mass.) matched a career-high with four goals and five points as the Ravens earned their first victory, an 11-5 decision on the road at Duffy Field on the campus of Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Michael's College Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Crimson and Grey move to 1-4, 1-4 NE10 while the Purple Knights slide to 3-2, 3-2 NE10.

Daly spearheaded the Ravens offense in the third quarter as Pierce outscored the hosts 6-0. Daly had two goals and one assist in the period. The four-goal explosion with one assist for five total points matched his career-best goal and point mark set last year, March 1st on the road at Dominican (N.Y.).

Senior midfielder Mike Alibrandi (Holliston, Mass.) and sophomore attack Caleb Ikkela (Onset, Mass.) manufactured two goals and one assist apiece. On the defensive end¸, junior Robert Colburn (Walpole, Mass.) caused a career-best eight turnovers and gobbled up a team-high six groundballs. Freshman goalkeeper James Heitmiller (Nashua, N.H.) earned his first career win making 13 saves.

Kyle Hirshom and Kevin Riggs were the leaders for the Purple Knights with two goals. Dominic Joy took the loss allowing 11 goals while making six saves in the process. Franklin Pierce was outshot 37-to-29 and won only five faceoffs compared to their counterparts 15, but still won the battle.

Daly got the Ravens on the board the first two minutes into the contest. On the ensuing possession, Saint Michael's deadlocked the game at 1-1 with Hirshom's fifth goal of the campaign. Two minutes later, he tacked on his second goal of the contest for a 2-1 SMC edge. Riggs made it a 3-1 score with 7:19 left in the quarter. No teams found twine for the remainder of the time as the Purple Knights were in front 3-1 at the end of one.

Saint Michael's upped the score to 4-1, however senior midfielder Josh Dorr (Brunswick, Maine) tallied an unassisted marker to cut the margin to 4-1 with 11:35 left before the break. Six minutes passed when Dorr kicked the ball to Ikkela for the tally which pulled the Ravens within one, 4-3. With two minutes to go, Ikkela passed the rock from behind the net to a waiting Albrandi on the right-wing and he cashed home his shot attempt to tie the margin 4-4 as the squads headed into the locker room.

Daly started the third quarter scoring 30 seconds in moving Pierce back ahead 5-4. Daly immediately found Ikkela right in front of the cage as he went flying near the post to make it a 6-4 contest. Daly continued his strong stretch notching another goal followed by Alibrandi to increase it to an 8-4 Pierce advantage three and a half minutes into the new stanza. Sophomore attack Owen McCormack (Hampstead, N.H.) buried the next two goals, one on the man advantage as the Ravens led 10-4 after three. Two goals were scored in the fourth, one by each program including Daly's fourth of the game.

The Ravens return home to Sodexo Field on Saturday for a conference showdown with American International at noon.
