RINDGE, N.H.  (April 28, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team concluded their 2017 season with an 18-8 loss at Northeast-10 Conference opponent and no. 6 nationally-ranked Pace University on Friday. With the win, the Setters move to 11-2 overall and 9-2 in league play while the Ravens end the year at 4-9, 2-9 NE10.

Liam Brennan paced the Setters attack with a game-high six goals and three assists en route to a nine point effort. Teammate Joshua Kreitler scored five goals for the hosts as well.

For the Crimson and Grey, a trio of athletes tallied two score games with sophomore midfielder Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) leading the way with two goals and a team-high two assists.

The Setters won 24-of-30 face off attempts, recorded 52 shots to the Ravens 24, scooped up more groundballs (41-to-20) and scored goals on 3-of-4 man up chances.

Junior attack Jack Carney (Dunbarton, N.H.) put the Ravens up ahead 46 seconds in with his first marker of the game. Two minutes passed until the Setters knotted up the score on an UP chance following a cross checking penalty on the Ravens as Brennan connected with Daniel Keenan to make it 1-1 with 12:20 left in the first.

Junior midfielder Louis Palumbo (Commack, N.Y.) dished a pass to a waiting Castorf who pushed a pass by Setters netminder Robert Beshlian to give the Crimson and Grey their last lead of the contest. Pace would score three unanswered capped off by a Brennan UP tally to regain the lead to the home side. Raven freshman midfielder Joe Palmeri (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) cut the deficit to one with his first career marker handed out by Carney as the guests trailed 4-3 with 6:51 left in the first quarter. Pace would add two to their lead including Brennan's second score of the quarter.

Castorf had a hand in the first two goals of the second quarter as he put the ball into the sticks of Benjamin Lassow (Mansfield, Conn.) and Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) as the Setters lead was once again brought down to one with 10:26 left before halftime. The hosts would rack up five of the quarters final six goals with Brennan tacking on three of them to his total which upped the advantage to 11-6 at the intermission.

Pace's scoring run continued into the third with three straight scores, two coming from Kreitler to bump the score to 14-6. Benjamin Lassow put an end to the binge, but the Setters closed out the contest with four straight goals to win by an 18-8 score.
